kayak carrier August 24, 2006 Jay M. Ross (Knoxville tn) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have an F 150 and a 13 foot kayak. This thing is great because I can shove the kayak in the back of the truck and lash it down all by myself. It's solid, safe and even comes with a little red flag to put on the kayak. Before extend a truck I always needed help to load the kayak on top of the truck. Now I can do it myself so I've increased my kayaking time a bunch and that's what it's all about.
Extend-A-Truck great for hauling lumber September 29, 2005 R. H. Reisner (Fayston, VT) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have a front receiver on the Tacoma pickup and can haul 20' lumber with the Extend-A-Truck mounted on my front receiver and roof racks on my cap.
Also we have a sailboat with a 25' mast which rides very well on the rigging, very stable. Extra tie-downs help also on the "T" bar.
Great product for contractors or homeowners who do their own work.
Great product! July 28, 2006 Amazon.com fan (Florida) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We have a beautiful 16-foot Old Town canoe that we rarely took out anymore because it was such a hassle to lift and tie on the roof of our truck. We heard about the Darby Extend-A-Truck and decided to order one. The minute it came we decided to give it a try and were amazed at how easy it was to install, load the canoe, and be ready to head for the river! What a breeze!
Better than expected January 4, 2007 Jeff Soper (Bloomington, IN USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was not sure if this was going to be strong enough to carry the load of the very long metal canoe I was going to haul in my very short truck, but I was pleastly surprised when I plugged in the support and proceeded to stand on it. It was not a problem at all and works great. Check the weight rating for your needs, but I believe this will carry 300 pounds. It is small enough to store behind the seat of an extended cab when not in use if this is a feature you also need. Good for those times when a load will just not work without a longer support. Just remember to secure your stuff.
Excellent product September 21, 2008 Greg A. Boone (Chester Springs, PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the extend a truck Extender for Kayaks, and I am extremely happy with this product. I ordered it from Amazon, and actually called the compay directly and ordered the roof rack accessory (Turbo-Rack). I called Monday morning and Both pieces arrived by 2pm Tuesday. I am primarily using it for kayaks, but will also occasionally us it for long pieces of lumber. I've found that you can take care of it "rattling and being loose" by using straps crossed from the extra holes in the adjustable "T". This is normal as you have to do the same thing with Yakima and Tule's and this is $60-80 cheaper ! I also recommend checking into Turbo-Rack, it's a cheaper alternative to Yakima and Tule and is just as effective! [...]
